"I like songs that have been around a while. Most of them are songs that my parents listened to when they were kids. In fact, most of my favorite tunes were written before I was born!"

"Many of them are "Dixieland" tunes written during the first quarter of the 20th century. Others are songs that were written during the big band "swing" era of the thirties and forties. A few tunes from the fifties creep in now and again, but not too many from the last half of the century. I like ballads with romantic lyrics, and corny songs that are just fun. I like songs that swing. So that is the kind of music that JinxStreet plays!"

"JinxStreet began with friends sitting around and playing at my home on Jinx Avenue in Austin, Texas. We were playing for the fun of making music and not worrying about pleasing anyone but ourselves. We still do that. JinxStreet plays music that we enjoy playing and, based on the response we get, there are plenty of people who enjoy the same music that we do."

This website began as a place to post information about the JinxStreet Band. It has gradually changed into an information resource about Dixieland and traditional jazz in and around Austin, Texas.
