Sammy Epstein moved to Austin from Portland, Oregon in September, 2006. In Portland he was an active member of three bands :

The Midnight Serenaders, playing vintage music of the 20s and 30s. The band included guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar, tenor banjo, bass, clarinet/bass clarinet, trumpet. Two of the band members also sing.

Mirage Jazz Ensemble, a trio playing mainstream jazz standards. Instrumentation of the group: vibraphone, acoustic bass, sax/clarinet.

Mazel Tov Orchestra, a six piece klezmer/jazz/Latin ensemble, including clarinet/alto sax, trombone, vocalist, piano, bass, drums.

Now a part of the Austin music scene, Sammy is a free lance musician playing clarinet, tenor sax, alto sax, and bass clarinet.
